||The Regal Bostonian Hotel, located in the heart of Boston's Faneuil Hall Marketplace, is situated in the most ideal setting, high above the bustling crowds. A glimpse out the magnificent windows affords guests a breathtaking view of Faneuil Hall. Watch shoppers run from one store to the next, see the couples tour the city in a romantic horse and carriage ride or just take in the brilliance of the city lights.
Seasons sits on the top floor of The Regal Bostonian Hotel, accessible only by its own elevator. The "new American" cuisine is the restaurant's signature feature. The restaurant has been named Boston's most romantic restaurant and was listed as one of the top 50 restaurants in the country by Conde Nast Traveler magazine.
The evening we visited the restaurant, we were greeted by Carl, the Irish maitre'd, who promptly showed us to our table. After we shared some stories on Ireland, he told us the specials of the evening but we ordered from the main menu.
For appetizers, I sampled the tempura battered lobster knuckles with wasabi ($14). The most tender part of the lobster arrived with a spicy wasabi sauce. Other appetizers included Wellfleet oyster and Spanish saffron stew ($14) and crisp duck confit leg with caramelized apple and lentil stew ($13).
The local green salad with spiced pecans, goat cheese and balsamic ($11) was fresh and flavorful. The warm cured salmon salad with lemon vinaigrette ($13) looked appealing.
Dinners here are to be commended. The black angus sirloin was cooked perfectly and arrived with a sampling of blue cheese whipped potatoes ($34). The lemongrass skewered scallops ($34) were sweet and fresh, accompanied by scallion fried rice. I was tempted to try to crisp sea bass ($32) while my aunt was undecided on her final selection and the beef tenderloin entrée.
Desserts here are simple works of art. Be sure to save room for a sampling from warm banana cake to crème brulee. We look forward to our next visit to Seasons.
