As Good As Anybody
"As Good As Anybody" by Richard Michelson with
illustrations by Raul Colon (Knopf, $16.99, 40 pages) is part history
lesson, part inspirational story, part primer on social justice and all
worthy reading and picture viewing. This is a keeper.
The book for ages 6-10 is focused on Martin Luther
King and Abraham Joshua Heschel's "Amazing March Toward Freedom," as
the sub-title announces. It goes on to relate the story of the Baptist
minister and the Jewish rabbi who became close friends and had the same
dreams of equality and justice for all people.
"As Good As Anybody" tells the inspirational story
that never grows old, that is as timely now as it was in the time of
King and Heschel. Enhanced greatly by the precise and poignant language
of Michelson and the moving and colorful art of Colon - this is a book
for gift giving, for savoring, for reading aloud. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
