When coming to Boston, most people generally rent a full-size or compact car from Avis, Hertz or Budget Rent-A-Car. To make your stay in Massachusetts more memorable, try renting an exotic car from International Horsepower in North Attleboro. The company offers an exclusive variety of amazing cars available for rent, including a yellow Lotus V8 twin turbo five-speed 340 HP and a Ferrari 348TS, five-speed Targa, 380 HP.

One weekend, we decided to rent the Dodge Hennessey six-speed, 500 HP Viper. We recently sold our Corvette and thought the Viper would be a similar ride. This car is much more powerful than any Corvette - just a tap on the gas sends this car soaring.

The racing stripe down the center of the car makes it stick out from the rest so be careful when flying by speed traps. 

Renting these cars is not as expensive as you may think. The requirements include a driver over the age of 21 with a major credit card and a security deposit of $1,000 is charged to the account of drivers over 25 years of age and is taken off when the vehicle is returned in good condition.

International Horsepower was formed two years ago in Massachusetts and the owners are already opening a second location in Florida. Mark Ebert said most people come in looking for something fun to rent for a day, night or for the weekend. 

Other rentals included a Porsche 911 six-speed convertible, Plymouth Prowler, Hummer 4x4, Mercedes SL600 convertible, Corvette C5, BMW M3 convertible, Porsche Boxter, BMW Z3 and even a NASCAR "Jeff Gordon #24" racecar.

Prices range from $99 for a weekday evening special (5 p.m. to 8 a.m.), excluding the Viper, Ferrari and Lotus, to $1,525 for a three-day weekend special.

Mileage is limited so don't plan on renting the car to drive to Florida for the weekend. Each car is given 100 free miles per day. Every mile over that allotment is charged 50 cents per each additional mile.

Of course, if you fall in love with your exotic car rental, you may opt to purchase the vehicle from International Horsepower.

The company also offers a professional auto detail service. Packages range from $75 to $150, which includes a hand wash, buff car with polish, hand wax, finish coat of spray wax, vacuum interior, shampoo rugs and mats, clean door jams, clean rims and tires, clean windows and treat with water repellant, clean and detail all vinyl, leather conditioner or fabric treatment on seats. Each service is also available individually instead of the package option.
